# What to Put on Your Website Homepage
The short answer: Your homepage needs six things: a clear headline that says what you do and who you help, a subheadline with your key benefit, a primary call to action (book a call, get a quote, buy now), social proof (reviews or results), a brief overview of your services, and a secondary call to action at the bottom. Everything else is optional.
The 6-Section Homepage Formula
1. Hero Section (Above the Fold)
This is what visitors see before scrolling. It must include:
- Headline: What you do and for whom. "We Build Websites That Bring More Clients to Small Businesses."
- Subheadline: Your key differentiator. "Delivered in 7 days. No hidden fees. Built to convert."
- Primary CTA button: One action. "Book a Free Call" or "See Our Packages."
- Optional: A hero image or video that shows your work or team.
2. Social Proof Bar
Right after the hero, before anything else, show that real people trust you:
- Star rating + number of reviews ("50+ five-star reviews")
- Client logos
- A key result ("clients report 40% more inquiries after launch")
This reduces bounce rate more than almost any other change.
3. Services Overview
Three to four service cards with:
- Service name
- One sentence on what it is
- Starting price (if possible)
- Link to the full service page
Do not list every detail here. Give enough to spark interest.
4. How It Works
A simple 3-step process removes fear. "Step 1: Book a Call. Step 2: We Build. Step 3: Go Live." This answers "what happens after I contact you?" which is the #1 unspoken concern visitors have.
5. Featured Reviews or Results
Two to three specific testimonials with real names, real businesses, and real results. Specificity wins. "My website got 3 new client inquiries in the first week" beats "great service, highly recommend."
6. Final CTA Section
End the page with a closing pitch and one more call to action. Remind them what they get and make it easy to take the next step.
What NOT to Put on Your Homepage
- A long paragraph about your company history in the hero
- More than one primary call to action button in the hero
- A generic stock photo with no relevance to your services
- Auto-playing video or music
- A contact form as the only way to reach you

Your homepage has one job: get the right visitor to take the next step. Every section should serve that goal.
